Reporting to the Board of Directors the position is tenable at Babereki Insurance Brokers (Pty) Ltd Headquarters in Gaborone.
Responsible to the Board of Directors for overseeing all strategic, operational and financial performance of the Company through visionary leadership and effective management of the executive team.
To ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.

A. Strategic Responsibilities
______________________________________________________________________
• Providing strategic leadership to the Company to deliver on its mandate as stipulated in the Insurance Act;
• Promoting the Company’s image and developing a good working relationship with all stakeholders and partners;
• Reviewing and updating of policies, processes and procedures.
• Leading and overseeing formulation, implementation and review of the Strategic Plan, Business Plan, and Annual Work Plan of the Company and reporting to the Board;
• Guides the Board to articulate its own role and accountability areas and that of its committees and individual members, and to evaluate its performance regularly;
• Liaises with the Chair of the Board to enable the Board fulfill its governance functions and facilitates the optimum performance by the Board, its committees and individual Board members; and
• In liaison with the Chair of the Board, focuses Board attention on strategic issues.

B. Managerial/Supervisory Responsibilities

• Provides general oversight of all activities of the Company and manages the day-to-day operations for a smoothly functioning and efficient organization;
• Assures program quality and organizational stability through development and implementation of standards and controls, systems and procedures, and regular evaluation;
• Assures a work environment that recruits, retains and supports quality staff and ensures an effective process for selecting, developing, motivating, and evaluating staff;
• Recommends staffing to the Board of Directors and ensures appropriate salary structures are developed and maintained in accordance with applicable guidelines;
• Specifies accountability for management and evaluates its performance regularly;
• Attends to personnel matters including organization structures, appointments, welfare, training, industrial relations, separation and effective management succession plans;
• Cascades performance contract deliverables.

C. Operational Responsibilities/Tasks
___________________________________________________________________
• Ensuring continuous achievement of the Company’s financial and operating goals and objectives while ensuring continuous improvement in the quality and value of services provided by the Company;
• Ensuring the Company is appropriately organized and staffed and taking disciplinary measures as necessary to enable it to achieve the approved strategy;
• Ensuring that expenditures of the Company are within the authorized annual budget;
• Assessing the principal risks of the Company and ensuring that these risks are monitored and managed;
• Ensuring effective internal controls and management information systems in place for effective, lawful and ethical performance;
• Supervising the team to ensure compliance with industry protocols/regulations in a risk based manner in accordance with the Insurance Act;
• Ensuring that the Company maintains high standards of corporate citizenship and social responsibility;
• Acting as the principal spokesperson of the Company;
• Communicating effectively with the Government and other Government agencies, regulated entities, employees, other stakeholders, and members of the public;
• Ensuring that the Directors are properly informed to enable the Directors make appropriate decisions;
• Abiding by specific internally established control systems and authorities, leading by example and encouraging all employees to conduct their activities in accordance with all applicable laws and the Company’s standards and policies;

D. Financial Responsibility
• Oversee the development of Company’s budgets
• Overall responsibility for approval of expenditure
Requirements, Education and Experience
Academic Qualifications
A minimum of Diploma in Insurance or equivalent
A Risk and Compliant qualification would be an added advantage
Associate Membership of an Insurance Professional Body.
Experience
The incumbent should have at least five years’ managerial experience in the insurance industry.
Regulatory:
Prospects will have to meet NBFIRA’s Fit and Proper test.
Prospects will be required to undergo vetting by NBFIRA.
