BACKGROUND

HPP Botswana is a locally registered Non-Governmental Organization that has been operating in Botswana since 2001. The organization works to promote actions in the fight for development in areas of health, education, human rights, food security and economic empowerment. DUTIES

• Facilitate the establishment of Loologane tree nursery
• Promote forest and range resources development through production and distribution of tree seeds and seedlings for various tree planting programs
• Conduct public awareness campaigns on forest and range resources conservation and management
• Develop, implement and monitor strategies and programs in the conservation, management and utilization of plant resources within the Thotayamarula Conservation Area
• Conduct regular inventories of plant populations and their habitats and monitor changes therein within the Thotayamarula Conservation Area

QUALIFICATIONS AND KEY REQUIREMENTS

• Advanced/Higher Diploma in Forestry and Range Ecology
• Minimum of 2 years’ hands-on experience in tree seedling production, range management or any environmental field
• Experience in planning, management and coordination of conservation projects will be an added advantage
• Ability to produce project activity reports
• Ability to work with local communities and local trusts
• Experience in project management and coordination is an added advantage

COMPETENCIES

• Knowledge of tree seedling production and nursery establishment
• Extensive knowledge of agro-forestry practices
• Ability to conduct a range of researches, inventories and monitoring
• Ability to work with multiple stakeholders across a wide range of disciplines
• Good communication skills
• Excellent writing, reporting and presentation skills
• Computer skills
