Job Purpose
To implement, monitor and supervise the day to day maintenance and repair of the Mechanical Equipment in accordance with set specification, standards and safety procedures to ensure optimal plant availability. The role provides technical support for efficient and effective installation, commission, maintenance and repair of mechanical plant equipment in accordance with procedures to ensure plant availability and safety.
Autonomy – The job holder works under general direction and guidelines.
Improvements – The job holder identifies technical malfunctions and analyses the problems, contacts supplier or other specialists and provides technical solutions.
Complexity – The job holder makes repairs and adjustments that are complex while providing advice and technical direction.
Principal Accountabilities/Responsibilities
Testing
Performs a broad range of tests that require detailed assessment, measurement and judgment.
Safety, Health and Environment
Delivers own prescribed outcomes and/or provides support services by using the organization’s safety, health and environment systems and protocols.
Performance Management
Improves personal performance and coaches others when required using performance management systems and protocols.
Installation, Maintenance and Repair
Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment and systems for emergency repairs, performs preventive maintenance inspections, assists specialists in setting up and testing new products/processes and installs complex systems with guidance.
Data Collection & Analysis
Produces accurate reports for others by collecting data from a variety of standard sources and inputting that data into standard formats.
Compliance
Works within current compliance processes, systems and procedures and reports shortcomings
Client & Customer Management (Internal)
Carries out prescribed internal client management activities and provides support to others by following existing procedures.

Develops personal capabilities using existing formal and informal training opportunities, while also coaching others as required.

Identifies shortcomings in existing processes, systems and procedures, then uses established change management programs to deliver prescribed outcomes and/or provide support services.

A recognized Diploma in Aircraft Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent.
Experience
- A minimum of 5 years post qualification experience of which 2 years should have been in a supervisory level in mechanical maintenance in a power plant/aviation environment. Mechanical Maintenance in Gas Turbine environment will be an added advantage.
- Experience of supervising and directing people and other resources to achieve specific end results within limited timeframes
