Job Purpose:

To manage the corporate internal and external communications activities to develop a positive reputation for KBL by developing and executing globally aligned traditional and social media plans to achieve the business objectives.

Support the Director Legal &Corporate Affairs in setting, and delivering, the external communications strategy for KBL, including crisis communications. Oversees the day-to-day implementation of the internal and external communications strategy across the business.

 

Key roles and Responsibilities:

• Manage the external communications function, both traditional and digital media, in support of the Africa Zone approach

• Manage the development of a positive reputation of the Africa Zone, including KBL, through issue management, developing KBL’s corporate identity and brand as well as engaging on how the Africa brand will evolve over time

• Keep abreast of relevant news/media reports that may affect KBL

• Develop a crisis communications plan and manage the crisis communications agenda

• Execute the PR strategies and plans which are aligned with the global positioning of our company

 

• Develop and execute social media strategy and monitor proactive campaigns and reactive responses

• To prepare and update KBL external communications tools: press releases, holding statements, Q&A’s, position papers, presentations, etc;

• To organize press meetings, trips, events, press conferences and site visits for journalists when required;

• To provide communications support and advice to local communication contacts in accordance with the Global Media Policy

• Manage external and internal stakeholders and relationships

 

Minimum Education or Qualifications:

• Must have a post-graduate degree

• Strong written & verbal communication skills & creativity

• Project management and strategic ability
• Ability to multi-task
• Manage a budget
Key Skills and Experience:

 

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a journalism or corporate communications role
• Demonstrated ability to manage the reputation of complex organizations facing different challenges
