The Medicines Regulatory Authority has been set up under the Medicines and Related Substances Act (MRSA) of 2013 and was established to regulate the supply chain of medicines and related substances, cosmetics and medical devices in order to ensure their quality, safety and efficacy.
Suitably qualified citizens are hereby invited to submit their applications and curriculum vitae for the below positions in the Authority tenable in Gaborone, Botswana.
INFORMATION COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY (ICT) OFFICER
JOB PURPOSE:
To plan, organize, develop and management the implementation of sound information and communications technology services to meet the needs of the Authority and ensure the security of data at all times.
MAIN DUTIES:
1. To develop plan and budget and manage resources in respective section.
2. To coordinate and oversee Information and Communication Technology activities in the Authority.
3. To plan, develop, direct, coordinate and conduct ICT training for staff; prepare user training manuals and related informational materials as needed.
4. To provide consultation and technical assistance to users on personal and centralized computer applications.
5. To coordinate and oversee the procurement of computer hardware and software and supervise contracts related to the maintenance of the Authority’s ICT system.
6. To develop guidelines, manuals and standard operating procedures on ICT.
7. To prepare monthly, quarterly, mid yearly and annual progress reports;
8. To develop, maintain and train staff on Information Management System (IMS).
9. To develop and review Web Pages for Authority websites.
10. To prepare and maintain computer systems backups.
11. To develop application software as may be required.
12. To develop and maintain Authority’s communication network, application system and databases
13. To carry out day to day installation, configuration, update and maintenance of computers and peripheral equipment (such as printers, scanners, etc).
14. To provide technical support to staff and other users on IT services and equipment including preventive maintenance schedules of computers and related equipment.
15. To design and develop database and applications system.
16. To develop, maintain and implement disaster recovery procedures for MIS systems
17. To develop and institute security measures for computers and databases.
18. To establish and maintain selection and performance criteria for new hardware and software acquisitions; recommend purchase of computer related goods and services.
19. Develop and manage disaster recovery plans and procedures for Authority.
20. To develop and institute security measures for computers and databases.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Academic Qualification: Degree or higher, in Computer Science or Information Technology or Systems Analysis or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution
• Work experience: At least seven years relevant experience, four of which in senior Head of Sectional position
• Essential skills: Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Competences: Project management; Information security; design, development and maintenance; architecture; teamwork.
