JOB PURPOSE
- The purpose of the job is to develop, coordinate and oversee the engineering and asset management systems and processes in the designated divisions providing an integrated service.
- The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance and continued support of heavy equipment fleet of an open pit mining operation in Cut 8.
THE JOB
The position will be responsible for among other things the following:
• Analysing the divisional areas financial needs to develop a budget and ensures sufficient financial resources to meet business needs.
• Translating the engineering strategy into medium/long term strategic leverage areas or interventions for development of maintenance systems to support the division in meeting objectives and targets.
• Coordinating the effective provision of integrated engineering services to business units/division by evaluating requirements and formulating a medium/long term schedule to meet objectives.
• Overseeing the implementation of the asset management strategy, standards, policies and practices.
• Managing equipment data relating to maintenance history, audit and specification throughout equipment life cycle.
• Ensuring management and maintenance of contracts within the business unit.
• Ensuring compliance to perform standards, statutory and legal requirements for equipment taking cognizance of safety, health, environment and technical requirements.
• Managing business risk to align with corporate governance best practice and ensure compliance with all relevant statutory legislation.
• Managing subordinates key effectiveness areas by setting, monitoring and reviewing performance and taking remedial action.
• Monitoring and reporting asset performance metrics against standards.
• Designing, implementing and maintaining an effective predictive maintenance program for the operation.
• Coordinating internal and external audits on Asset Management maturity assessments.
• Implementation of Best Practices in the maintenance field, including RCA, MTTR and MTBF.
• Ensuring compliance with safety standards and requisite legal and statutory inspections.
• Continually monitoring progress of all work and projects assigned to ensure timely, efficient and safe completion of all tasks.
THE PERSON
The right candidate will possess the following:
• A Bachelor Degree in an engineering discipline- Mechanical, Electrical or Control and Instrumentation.
• Eight (8) years post qualification engineering experience in heavy engineering, including Engineering In Training (EIT) programme with 3 years at substantive mining industry Engineer level.
• Registration with Botswana Engineer’s Registration Board.
• Experience in the management and administration of MARC’s with respect to Komatsu 930E Haul Trucks would be a distinct advantage
