ASSISTANT LANGUAGE TEACHERS (ALTS) – Heart Corporation

On behalf of HEART CORPORATION, one of the leading private companies in Japan recruiting Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs) for 34+ years for the Japanese public schools, the Ministry of Labour and Home Affairs, in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Botswana in Japan, the Ministry of International Relations, and the Ministry of Child Welfare and Basic Education, invites qualified teachers from Botswana to apply for the position of ALTs tenable in Japan’s public elementary and junior high schools starting in April 2027. Positions are available in Tohoku (Miyagi and Fukushima), Kanto (Tokyo, Kanagawa, Saitama, Chiba, Ibaraki, Tochigi, and Gunma), Chubu (Yamanashi, Nagano, Shizuoka, Achi, and Gifu), Kansai (Osaka, Kyoto, and Nara), Chugoku (Okayama and Hiroshima), and Kyushu (Fukuoka and Kumamoto). This opportunity is different from the INTERAC one, which was advertised by the Ministry of Labour and Home Affairs on 4 September 2026.

NB: This opportunity is the outcome of the engagement between the EMBASSY OF THE REPUBLIC OF BOTSWANA IN JAPAN AND HEART CORPORATION. Also note that this programme covers the successful applicants (ALTs) only. Dependents of the successful applicants (ALTs) will not be covered under the programme.

Key Responsibilities

  • ALTs work alongside Japanese teachers in public schools, helping students learn English language through games, conversation, debates, excursions, and cultural exchange.
  • They are not the main teachers, but assist Japanese teachers/they are assistants.
  • Moreover, ALTs share their culture (they are cultural ambassadors), broaden young minds, and gain an experience that will change their (ALTs’) life as well.
  • ALTs may be assigned to multiple schools, usually working at one school each day, and rotating between their assigned schools during the week.
