Job Purpose
Business Intelligence (BI) Specialist is responsible for the design, development, implementation, management and support of mission critical BI enterprise reporting. The role is responsible for extracting data from business wide enterprise systems, data analysis and reporting as well as use BI and database tools to develop reporting solutions to meet business needs.

Framework – The professional has to develop unique new reporting solutions with hardly any precedents.
Principal Accountabilities/Responsibilities
​Training development and delivery
Develops and designs content for training courses in specific functional areas to fill gaps in established programs; runs complex and/or customized training courses to improve employee performance within specific functional area.
Safety, Health and Environment
Delivers own prescribed outcomes and/or provides support services by using the organization’s safety, health and environment systems and protocols.
Operational Management
Provides operational support services and sometimes acts as first-line support of a transactional operations area while using existing systems and protocols.
Knowledge Management
Delivers prescribed outcomes for area of responsibility by working within established knowledge management systems.
Client & Customer Management (Internal)
Supports internal & external customers to ensure their needs are met and/or helps management manage client relationships.
Highlights shortcomings and suggests improvements in current compliance processes, systems and procedures within assigned unit and/or discipline.
Data Collection & Analysis
Conducts research using primary data sources and selects relevant information to enable analysis of key themes and trends.
Data Management
Delivers prescribed outcomes by working as directed within established data management systems and procedures.
Improvement / Innovation
Identifies shortcomings and suggests improvements to existing processes, systems and procedures, then delivers a plan for a small element of a change management program with guidance from a project/program manager.
Internal Communications
Helps others use and benefit from the existing internal communications systems.
Needs Assessment
Explores issues and/or needs to establish potential causes, related issues and barriers.
Helps managements to implement quality assurance change initiatives and/or make continuous operational improvements.
  • ​A recognised University Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Business Administration or Equivalent.
  • Industry related certification e.g. BW/BI SAP Certification, MCSA – BI or SQL – BI is required.​
​Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years post qualification experience in an IT environment, 3 of which should have been in Business Analysis/Business Warehouse and reporting.
Managerial Experience
Basic experience of coordinating the work of others.
