Qualifications:

Diploma / Degree in Culinary Arts or any related field.

Experience:

At least two (2) years’ work experience as Principal Catering Officer at C1 salary scale or six (6) years in a similar role.

Benefits:

a. Optional Contributory Medical Aid Scheme (Government pays 50% while employee pays 50%).
b. Contributory Pension Scheme (Government pays 15% while Employee pays 5%).
c. Housing and Upkeep Allowance of P398.80 per month.

Job Purpose:

Manage kitchen operations in the BDF dining establishments to ensure operational efficiency and effectiveness.

Duties and Responsibilities:

a. Provide advice on the implementation of catering policies, procedures and standards to ensure compliance to set standards.
b. Develop and implement innovative solutions and guidelines to ensure effective and excellent catering services in the Botswana Defence Force.
c. Manage the Catering Services Unit in alignment to the needs and priorities of the unit CAC operational efficiency.
d. Liaise and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to ensure compliance to procurement standards.
e. Conduct market research on new trends, menus and customer preferences.
f. Prepare and present status, review and trend reports for staff and presentation.
g. Supervise, mentor and train subordinates.
h. Monitor and control the procurement of supply of all items to the department.
i. Develop and maintain work plans and systems for subordinates.
j. Implement Performance Management Systems to ensure achievement of unit goals.
