Main Purpose of the Job:
To coordinate the development of guidelines and strategies for implementation of rehabilitation and reintegration services, to prevent the ill effects of illicit use and trafficking of Narcotics drugs and Psychotropic substances.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the development and implementation of rehabilitation guidelines, regulations and standards in accordance with the Act.
  • Provides professional guidance in the execution of rehabilitation and reintegration strategies.
  • Facilitates high-priority intervention programmes, ensuring alignment with legal standards, strategic objectives, and ethical practices.
  • Coordinates rehabilitation programmes on the danger and effect of abuse of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.
  • Provides advice to government Ministries, departments, Companies, institutions, statutory bodies and general public on ways and means of preventing prohibited activities relating to narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.
  • Facilitates the implementation of rehabilitation services and regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinates the Development of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) aligned to rehabilitation protocols in combating illicit drugs and substance use.
  • Coordinates the development of rehabilitation initiatives against illicit drug use.
  • Facilitates the development and reviewing of regulations, policies and guidelines for implementation of rehabilitation strategies.
  • Facilitates public education initiatives at all levels of society against illicit drug use.
  • Coordinates the soliciting and fostering of public support on reintegration process.
  • Facilitates the collection, collation and dissemination of information on admission, adherence to treatment, bond and reintegration.
  • Conducts research processes for exchange of scientific and technical information and illicit drugs use.
  • Coordinates and evaluates the effectiveness of rehabilitation services, making recommendations for improvement and implementing changes as needed.
  • Establishes systematic tracking, assessment, and reporting of activities and actions.
  • Coordinates the integration of research findings into rehabilitation strategies, to support cross-functional decision-making, formulation.
  • Coordinates Mobilisation and engagement of stakeholders with NGOs to collaborate in rehabilitation initiatives.
  • Coordinates bonds and alternative to imprisonment programmes for effective rehabilitation.
  • Collaborates with health care professionals to develop individualised treatment plans ensuring optimal patient outcomes.
  • Prepares budget estimates for the division.
  • Coordinates the utilization of financial resources.
  • Coordinates and manages staff performance by establishing and ensuring that contracts are signed with staff and that reviews are undertaken in accordance with the public service, PMS and agreed schedules.
  • Fosters continual improvement of staff engagement by providing on the job training, coaching and mentoring as needed, ensuring that all the staff meet or exceed the requirement of their performance contracts.
  • Resolves all disciplinary and grievance issues in accordance with Botswana legislation, the Agency’s Code of Conduct, quotes and agreed turnaround times.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Nursing, Public Health, Occupational Therapy or equivalent.
  • At least twelve (12) years’ working experience in healthcare or rehabilitation, of which two (2) years should have been served at D2 salary scale in Government or equivalent in Parastatal/Private sectors.

Salary

D1 – P386 892 – P426 660 per annum
