CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER – BECI

Founded in 1996, BECI (Export Credit Insurance and Guarantee Company Botswana) is the only credit insurer in Botswana, and is a private company – wholly owned by Botswana Development Corporation Limited (BDCL). BECI’s primary function is to develop and equip businesses with Trade Credit Insurance policies to protect them from the danger of non-payment by credit customers. In addition, the company now offers a selection of business growth tools, such as Construction Bonds and Guarantees. The Institution is inviting individuals with a strong business acumen, solid leadership skills, together with impeccable integrity to fill the position of Chief Executive Officer.

JOB PURPOSE
Reporting to the Board, the position will be responsible for the development, coordination and managing the growth and delivery of a range of products and services to maximise market share and optimise profitability, returns to shareholders and utilisation of assets. It involves overseeing all operations and business activities to ensure they produce the desired results and are consistent with the overall strategy and mission. The role further assumes that of Principal Officer for regulatory compliance.

THE JOB
The incumbent will be responsible for, among others, the following:
• Leading the execution of organizational strategies and business plans to optimize profitability, minimize risk and enhance returns to shareholders.
• Overseeing adherence to risk standards, compliance with organizational policies, procedures, quality standards and industry regulations.
• Overseeing the development, as well as, ensuring the implementation of an investment strategy which will maximize returns and ensuring adequacy of operational cash flows.
• Identifying potential opportunities for business alliances for joint development and marketing of products and networks with the business community to identify niche market opportunities for the business.
• Overseeing the promotion of BECI’s agency capabilities to grow management fee income and the range of third party products managed by the company.

THE PERSON
The right candidate will possess the following:
• A minimum of a Master’s Degree in Risk and Insurance/ Business Management/ Finance or any related field.
• Fellow in Insurance or any professional membership.
• A minimum of ten (10) years in a senior management position and including involvement in corporate policy development, strategic planning and operational management, preferably in the financial services sector.
• Experience in a non-life insurance company is an added advantage.
