CREDIT CONTROLLER (2 YEARS CONTRACT) wanted at Botswana Life

Job Summary

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the incumbent is responsible for managing all money owed to the business. This role handles the collection of finances, the resolution of account queries, production and sending of invoices and issuance of credit notes. Further, to manage debt recovery, which may involve stopping the delivery of services or undertaking legal action in the case of non-payment by the debtors.

Key Performance Areas

• Reviewing the credit process to ensure that credit risk is considered before loans can be given to intermediaries (brokers/agents). This includes the contracts signed to ensure that BLIL has adequate collateral
• Negotiate payment plans with both intermediaries and all clients
• Improving debt collection processes, procedures and policies whilst maintaining a high level of customer retention
• Maintaining accurate records for financial reporting
• Responding to relevant client enquiries
• Preparation of statements, client status reports and all relevant information as required
• Propose write-off of irrecoverable receivables
• Reconciliations of all debtors and ensure debt collection
• Send out monthly client statements/letters as may be agreed from time to time
• Other duties as delegated from time to time by the CFO or Finance Manager or any other person designated in their absence

Minimum Experience/Knowledge & Skills

• Minimum of 3 years’ work experience at a supervisory level in a finance function within a financial institution
• Credit control experience in banking/micro-lending environment is an advantage
• Competency with large ERP systems i.e. Oracle
• Confidence and the ability to tactfully put pressure on debtors

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting / Finance
• ACCA/CIMA would be an added advantage
