Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate Corporate and Business Banking credit applications by analysing borrower background, ownership structure, management quality, business model, trading performance, repayment sources, and overall creditworthiness.
- Conduct detailed financial statement analysis, including profitability, liquidity, leverage, working capital cycle, debt service capacity, cash flow generation, sensitivity analysis, and key financial ratios.
- Assess industry, sector, market, customer, supplier, and macroeconomic risks that may affect borrower performance and repayment ability.
- Evaluate proposed and existing facility structures, including overdrafts, term loans, asset finance, trade finance, guarantees, and other Corporate or Business Banking lending products.
- Recommend appropriate facility limits, tenors, repayment profiles, covenants, security requirements, pricing considerations, and conditions to mitigate identified risks.
- Assess collateral adequacy, valuation reports, security coverage, enforceability, perfection status, insurance arrangements, guarantees, and other risk mitigants.
- Prepare clear, balanced, and well-supported credit evaluation reports and credit committee papers that present key risks, mitigants, recommendations, and decision points.
- Review credit applications for completeness, accuracy, policy compliance, delegated authority requirements, approval conditions, and regulatory expectations before submission for approval.
- Provide independent risk input to Relationship Managers and Business units while maintaining objectivity, sound judgement, and alignment with the Bank’s risk appetite.
- Monitor Business Banking exposures by tracking arrears, excesses, covenant breaches, account conduct deterioration, collateral shortfalls, facility utilization trends, and other early warning indicators.
- Escalate emerging credit concerns promptly and recommend remedial actions, watchlist classification, covenant tightening, restructuring considerations, or recovery interventions where required.
- Support annual reviews, renewals, excess approvals, temporary limit requests, restructures, variations, and amendments to approved facilities.
- Prepare portfolio insights, risk trend analysis, concentration reports, sector commentary, and management information to support credit governance and portfolio quality oversight.
- Ensure credit files and evaluation records are complete, properly documented, and compliant with internal credit policy, KYC, AML, collateral, legal, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Business Banking products, credit risk practices, economic developments, and regulatory changes affecting the lending portfolio.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Banking, Accounting, Economics, Risk Management, Business Administration or related field. Credit risk, financial analysis, or professional banking qualifications will be an added advantage.
- At least three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in banking or financial services, preferably in Corporate Banking, Business Banking, commercial credit analysis, credit risk evaluation, lending, relationship credit support.
