Main Purpose of the Job
To provide strategic leadership, operational oversight, and innovation in the design, development, and implementation of technology-enhanced teaching and learning initiatives. The Director will drive the University’s digital learning agenda by promoting excellence in instructional design, educational technology, multimedia development, and learning management systems to ensure world-class online and blended programme delivery.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of strategies, policies, frameworks, and standards governing technology-enhanced learning and teaching.
- Drive innovation and research in instructional technologies and digital pedagogy to enhance teaching effectiveness and student success.
- Oversee the design, development, and delivery of high-quality digital learning resources and multimedia content.
- Provide leadership in the implementation, administration, and continuous improvement of Learning Management Systems (LMS) and related eLearning platforms.
- Promote best practices in online, blended, and hybrid learning environments across the University.
- Collaborate with Schools and support units to identify and implement technology solutions that meet teaching and learning needs.
- Ensure effective risk management, compliance, quality assurance, and process improvement within the Centre.
- Manage budgets, projects, resources, and stakeholder relationships.
- Lead, mentor, and develop multidisciplinary teams while fostering a culture of innovation and service excellence.
- Represent the University in national and international forums relating to technology-enhanced education.
Requirements
- A minimum of a Masters Degree in Educational Technology, Instructional Technology, Instructional Design and Technology, Multimedia Instructional Technology, or a related field from a recognised institution.
- A PhD/Doctorate in a relevant field will be an added advantage.
- Proficiency in ICT applications and educational technologies relevant to the position.
- Demonstrated expertise in instructional design, digital pedagogy, multimedia-supported learning, and Learning Management Systems (e.g., Moodle or similar platforms).
- At least ten (10) years’ relevant experience in a higher education environment, preferably within ODL, including a minimum of five (5) years in a senior management or leadership role.
