DIRECTOR – DEPARTMENT OF TELECOMMUNICATIONS AND POSTAL SERVICES E1 X 1 wanted at Ministry of Transport and Communications

 

Applications are invited from talented, decisive and self-driven qualified citizens of Botswana to fill the above mentioned position in the Ministry of Transport and Communications tenable at Department of Telecommunications and Postal Service on a contract of 24 to 36 months.

SALARY SCALE: E1 (P425,376 – 442,584) per annum

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To direct, manage and provide strategic leadership in the Telecommunications and Postal Sectors including research, planning, development monitoring and evaluation of policies, legislation and standards.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

• Direct provision of access to telecommunications and postal services.
• Oversee tariff adjustments from the operators and advice the Minister.
• Monitor affordability of telecommunications and postal services and advice Regulatory Agency.
• Engage and consult stakeholders on the sectors’ developments.
• Oversee the production of action and development plans which promote development of the sectors.
• Monitor technology convergence issues and their implications on the communication sector policies.
• Formulate and implement departmental strategic plan, business plan, budget and operating plan.
• Direct compliance with statutory requirements of the public service.
• Manage use of Department finances.
• Undertake any other related duties as may be assigned by Management.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor of Engineering in Telecommunications, Electronics & Electrical, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Bachelor of Business Studies.

EXPERIENCE: Fourteen (14) years’ work experience in the Information Communication Technology or related field, two (2) years of which should be on E2 position or its equivalent.

LEAVE: 30 Working days per annum
