ENGINEERING MANAGER – CHLORIDE EXIDE BOTSWANA (PTY) LTD

Chloride Exide Botswana (Pty) Ltd. an ISO 9001-2015 Company is based in Gaborone and manufactures lead acid automotive batteries for the replacement market within the SADC region and is looking to employ a competent person having an Electrical Engineering background as Engineering Manager.

JOB SUMMARY:

· In charge of all engineering and maintenance aspects of the company including purchase of engineering spares.
· Also assist work pertaining to machine capabilities to ensures its maintenance in the company as stipulated in the Quality manual.
· Reports to Manufacturing Director
· Issues daily maintenance jobs to the maintenance personnel and supplementary work instructions and work to the engineering assistants.
· Should have experience with and must be proficient with the use of AutoCAD software.
· Offers guidance to both the technician and engineering assistant on technical aspects of work beyond their understanding and service requirements according to OEM and safety.
· Carry out periodical equipment audits to determine the spares required for machinery and carry out inventory of critical spares.
· Identify spares required and arrange procurement with the relevant suppliers.
· Oversees engineering stores, optimizes spares and machine usage.
· Assist Factory manager, Production Manager and his crew in achieving optimum machine settings during equipment commissioning.
· Ensures statutory requirements are met in relation to the employment act and any other relevant legislation in force.
· Be involved in all health and safety aspects of the company.
· Have effective engagement with the Staff Representatives as part of the company management negotiating team.

REQUIREMENTS

· Holder of BSC Honours Degree in Electrical Engineering
· Registered with ERB
· Higher Diploma in Electrical Engineering and or Electrical Trade C.
· The position would suit an enthusiastic, self-motivated Engineer having at least 5 plus years of factory maintenance experience in a busy production environment.
· In addition the incumbent would require knowledge and experience in pneumatic, hydraulic, automated PLC systems plus a working knowledge of computer integrated controls including being proficient and having experience with AutoCAD. Strong managerial skills would also be necessary.
