ENVIRONMENTAL OFFICER – TATAKI MINING

VACANCY 

Botswana’s mining sector celebrates a major milestone with the official opening of *Tataki Mine, a new, strategically significant operation backed by **NIU Invest*. Positioned in one of the country’s key mineral belts, Tataki Mine is set to become a cornerstone of sustainable economic growth, job creation and local development. The mine is now actively recruiting to fill a wide range of vacancies, the recruitment drive aims to empower communities and stimulate long-term economic participation. The mine wishes to recruit consummate professionals, with solid experience, who are driven by a passion for excellence into the following position:

 Environmental Officer

Job Purpose:

Lead environmental and social compliance across projects and operations. The position will also ensure adherence to national regulations, international best practices and corporate sustainability policies.

Key Responsibilities:

– Implement and maintain an Environmental Management System (ISO 14001).
– Lead Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA) and environmental permitting processes.
– Collaborate with external consultants and relevant stakeholders in the development of Environment Management Plans and similar efforts.
– Monitor environmental performance (air, water, biodiversity, etc.).
– Oversee mine closure planning and rehabilitation.

Minimum Requirements:

– A minimum of a Bachelor’s in Environmental Science/Engineering/Management.
– A Master’s Degree in a related field will be an added advantage.
– A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in environmental management, ideally both in the context of ongoing operations and in the context of industrial projects (e.g., development of EIAs and EMPs).
– Strong track record in ESIA, EMS, stakeholder engagement and mine closure planning.
– A Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel and work in field conditions.
