Key Responsibilities

• can plan, organize and control his workforce, to ensure that optimum efficiency is obtained
• can repair and maintain Heavy Plant Machinery in the Field and in the Workshop
• is also able assist in the office as a working Charge-hand in order to ensure that everybody’s required paperwork is done as regards spares and warranty
• is able to coach all trainees in his/her department, so that all trainees acquire a similar level of skill as him/ her
• is able to check all work done for operation, quality, company procedures cleanliness and safety
• is able to compile and present a comprehensive machine condition and assessment report for repair
• is able to present a concise Spares Order List and continuously follow up spares status
• is willing to enforce and adhere to Company Health and Safety Practices at all times
• is willing to adhere to Company Policies and Stipulations
• has very strong fault finding abilities
• is responsible for performing full engine rebuilds
• Visit Customer Operational Sites, attend Site meetings & compile detailed Machine Condition Assessments (MCA).
• Assist on Liebherr mid-life rebuilds, new rebuilds, major breakdowns and specialized repairs and maintenance.
• Control all processes pertaining to Liebherr WIP (Work In Progress) and Warrantees.
• Improve and drive Customer Services.
• Responsible for controlling all aspects related to Health and Safety.
• Manage team building and skills transfer.
• Be able to read, understand and order parts on the Liebherr Parts System.
• Be responsible for Programming and Software upgrades of all Liebherr Machines.
• Be computer literate i.e. internet, e-mail, Microsoft Office especially in Word Excel and PowerPoint.

Requirements

• Certification in Mechanics (Petrol/Diesel)
• A minimum of 20 years continuous post certification practical experience in Mechanics (Petrol/Diesel)
• A minimum of 15 years proven track record on Bell and Liebherr Earthmoving Machines
• A minimum of 15 years Heavy Plant Field Service Mechanic on Bell, Liebherr, Manitou, John Deere & CAT Machines
• The ability to do complete engine rebuilds
• An Apprenticeship in Heavy Plant / Diesel Mechanics.
• A minimum of 20 years post Apprenticeship experience in the industry.
• A minimum of 15 years practical Liebherr experience on the complete range of Liebherr Excavators
• A minimum of 15 years Supervisor/ Management experience.
• A clear understanding of the Original Equipment Manufacturers Operation.
• A sound Liebherr air conditioning, technical fault finding/ solving abilities & experience.
• Have sound experience in using Diagnostic Software such as Sculi, Lindiag, Lidos, Cummins Insite SW & Hyper Terminal.
• Leadership qualities which are essential to this position.
• Furthermore, it is very important that the incumbent has the relevant engine rebuilding experience on OM Mercedes Benz, Deutz, ADE, John Deere, Liebherr, Cummins, Scania and Detroit Engines. Experience in Allison Transmissions, ZF Parts, Diagnostic Equipment and Software including Mini Diag, Serdia 2000, Cancom Programmer, Service Advisor and Pro-Link 9000 will be an added advantage.
