Overview of role
This role will have a seat as an invitee on the board and will add to the strategic direction of the company. Reporting on a quarterly basis to the Board of Trustees.
The role of the Finance Director has overall control and responsibility for all financial aspects of the company strategy and is expected to analyse figures and implement recommendations based on these findings with the most profitable outcomes. Accurate classification in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards is key.
Often managing and leading a team through month ends, quarter ends, year ends and annual budgeting and managing policies regarding capital requirements, taxation etc.

Job description
- To monitor implementation of key deliverables
- Maintain costs within or below budget (No cost overruns)
- To ensure reduction or no errors and omissions in the day to day operations
- To ensure high performance environment
- To keep the Board of Trustees updated with the financial position of the Fund and provide feedback on strategy deliverables
- Manage supplier agreements and ensure effective procurement of goods and services
- To ensure that Asset Managers transactions are accounted for properly on a monthly basis and timely flow of investment income and asset values to Finance for consolidation
- Manage and control the maintenance of the accounting & financial records
- Oversee the design, implementation and adherence of accounting policies and procedures
- Oversee the monthly, quarterly and annual consolidation and reporting process
- Oversee the accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger and treasury functions
- Manage budget, planning and forecasting reporting responsibilities for 6. Operations
- Oversee the end to end Investment Accounting processes
- Manage both financial and investment accounting staff and their career development
- Coordinate with the tax, banks and custody groups to ensure their reporting needs are satisfied
- Manage other internal and external financial reporting requirements
- Report on a monthly basis to Executive Management and on a quarterly basis to the Board and senior management
- Provide guidance to the business with initiative
- Handle ad-hoc assignments when needed
- Signing authority
Requirements, Education and Experience
- A Degree in Accounting/Commerce and registered with a professional accounting body e.g. BICA/CIMA/ACCA
- Post graduate formal qualification is necessary
- 10 years post qualification accounting experience with minimum 5 years in a Financial Institution and or 3 years in Fund Administration
- Strong skills in large ERP systems, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- People management experience
- Good perspective and judgement in relation to changing business requirements
- Confident energetic and enthusiastic individual interested in working in a fast paced/dynamic environment
- Ability to solve complex problems
- Analytical and attention to detail
- Capable of prioritizing tasks and meeting critical deadlines
- Organisational skills
- Budgetary and resource management
