Reporting to the Chief Operation Officer, the successful candidates will be responsible for developing and implementing financial and management accounting policies and procedures in line with relevant Botswana laws, and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and in advising on appropriate business planning and decision making to ensure that the Hospital goals are achieved
Key Responsibilities will include but will not be limited to the following:-
i)Conducts risk assessments and develops a business model to guide the development and adoption and appropriate financial management accounting and procurement systems
ii)Develops/adopts financial and management accounting and procurement policies and procedures to enable proper financial planning to ensure that the Hospital achieves its long term goals.

iii)Undertakes research into pricing, competitors and factors affecting the Hospital financial performance and recommends financial ad procurement strategies and plans to ensure business remain sustainable.
iv)Produces and interprets Hospital financial management reports and prepares commentaries and financial statements
v)Investigates ways to better manage the Hospital finances by
a.controlling income, cash flow and expenditure underpinned by continuous evaluations for cost-reduction opportunities
b.continuously reviewing financial reports, identifying business opportunities, preparing forecast and developing appropriate budgets
c.Analysing costs, sales results, pricing against the Hospital’s actual performance
d.monitoring financial accounts, developing trends and preparing activity reports
vi)Oversees the financial and procurement operations of the Hospital and finance department including but not limited to
a.preparation of Hospital resource budgets (opex and operations)
b.develop effective resourcing strategies ensuring the Hospital benefits from economies of scale
c.Develop controls to ensure that the Hospital assets including consumables are protected
d.preparing budget guidelines and assist managers in the preparation of departmental budgets
e.contributing to annual reports
f.leading and directing staff to ensure departmental goals are met.
vii)Monitors compliance to all regulatory requirements such as BURs, Banks, oversees financial audits and ensures that action plans are developed to close any identified gaps.
viii)Develops and provides financial guidelines/check lists/manual to facilitate effective implementation of financial and management accounting policies
ix)Oversees and ensures that strict confidentiality of financial information
Minimum Job Requirements
Education
Degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics. A professionally recognized accounting qualification is essential while Masters in Business Administration would be an added advantageExperience
Ten years’ experience in a financial role , three years of which should have been in a middle management or supervisory position.
Experience in a Healthcare environment would be an added advantage.
