Provides financial support to the Botswana EpiC project. This position will work with the Finance Manager and Grants Officer in determining the cost per key population intervention such as outreach, care, testing and counseling and treatment. This officer will work in collaboration with the country Grants Officer and in liaison with EpiC HQ to conduct pre-award assessments and monitor the financial aspects of grant agreements to ensure compliance to PEPFAR and USAID rules and regulations.
- Reviews AP template for EPIC Project Director’s approval , ensure that charge codes are in agreement with the organisations chart of accounts
- Ensures payments are made on time
- Ensures EPIC payment vouchers are properly filed with all supporting documents
- Journalize monthly EPIC subrecipients approved expenditures
- Coordinates reimbursements for subreceipients based on the monthly financial reports
- Reviews procurement justifications for EPIC
- Monitors EPIC’s subreceipients monthly financial reports and conducts site visits
- Assists in providing information needed for audits
- Carries out pre-award assessments when required for prospective subrecipients for EPIC
- Regularly reviews the status of office funds and assists in preparation of monthly requests
- Posts data into GFAS system and prepares GFAS journal entries
- Provides support as needed on bank reconcilliations
- Provides support as needed on balance sheet reconciliations
- Provides EPIC financial data for budget estimates and financial planning
Applied Knowledge & Skills:
- Applies a thorough knowledge of financial management, investment capital, and risk analysis, debt management, and investment analysis, legal and regulatory compliance pertaining to the respective industry.
- Proficient knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Internal Control Fundamentals.
- Proficiency in spreadsheet software required.
- Has a thorough knowledge of external regulations as well as internal corporate policies and procedures.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.

- Ability to analyze and interpret financial data, identify/resolve errors and prepare reports.

- Bachelor’s Degree or its International Equivalent.
- 5 – 8 Years of progressively responsible accounting, finance and operational management, and experience in a government contracting environment.
- Knowledge of U.S. Government grants, contracting and auditing standards as they apply to effective management of multi-year funds.
- Articulate, professional and able to communicate in a clear, positive manner with clients and staff.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English; fluent in host country language as appropriate.
- Non-governmental organization (NGO), government, or private sector experience preferred.
Typical Physical Demands:
- Typical office environment. Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; ability to lift 5-50 lbs.
