FINANCIAL CONTROLLER
Main purpose of the Job:
To direct, plan and control all financial management, accounting, and reporting, aspects of the Commission. The job also helps develop and execute financial decisions to help the Commission/Group meet its objectives and performance contract
Key Performance Areas
Providing guidance to staff and management on matters pertaining to accounting, internal control and other finance related issues. This includes providing assistance in reconciliation of accounts and, keeping the books of account up to date and accurately reflecting the transactions entered into by the Commission/Group
Management of the annual budgeting process, and regular review of actuals against the plan figures and latest estimates
Supports financial management in directing budget and cost controls, financial analysis, and accounting procedures. Manages financial statement preparation
Prepares and supervises the financial reports in discussion with all the other departments.
Establish and maintain costing models for the Commission. This includes preparing realization per market and advises management with the view of improving performance
Preparation and review of annual statutory accounts in accordance with international accounting standards
Qualities:
• Analytical skills
• Strong organizational and managerial skills
• Leadership and communication skills
Qualification and Experience Required:
Degree in Accounting and membership of ACCA or an equivalent international recognised professional accounting institute
Experience: At least seven years post qualification accountancy experience at supervisory/managerial level in a large commercial management environment. Experience in in international trade and foreign currency transaction is essential
