5 GENERAL FARM LABOURERS – required for intensive Commercial horticulture venture.

Experience in weeding is an added advantage.

Applicants should be prepared to take a practical test in weeding and harvesting.

Job Summary:
General farm labourers perform a variety of tasks to support the day-to-day operations of a farm or agricultural operation. Their duties can include planting, harvesting, animal care, equipment maintenance, and other general labour.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

– Assist with planting, cultivating, and harvesting of crops
– Feed, water, and provide basic care for livestock and poultry
– Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment such as tractors, tillers, mowers, etc.
– Load, unload, and transport harvested crops, supplies, and equipment
– Perform general maintenance and repairs on farm buildings, fences, and other infrastructure
– Move, stack, and store harvested crops, feed, and other farm products
– Monitor and report on the health and condition of crops and livestock
– Follow all farm safety protocols and use personal protective equipment as required
– Assist with other general farm tasks as needed

Qualifications:

– High school diploma or equivalent preferred
– Previous experience working on a farm or in an agricultural setting is an asset
– Ability to perform physical labour for extended periods
– Knowledge of farm equipment operation and maintenance
– Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
– Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
– Reliable transportation to get to the farm location
