GENERAL MANAGER (OPERATIONS) – Kwando Safaris

VACANCY

Kwando Safaris is looking for a General Manager (Operations) with responsibility for the following across 7 camps:
•Continuously improving guest experience in the areas of guiding, food and beverage, accommodation, and hospitality service
•Financial planning, budgeting and cost control
•Health and Safety
•Direct line management of 21 camp managers, Technical Service Manager, Operations Manager, Assistant GM, Training Division
•HR responsibility for approximately 240 employees
•Logistics and operations to support the 7 camps efficiently and within budget
•Maintenance and ensuring that the camp infrastructures and vehicle fleet consistently deliver a first-class experience to clients
•Project management for the implementation of new camps, including build, furnishing, and staffing
•Ensuring that camps are adhering to EMPs, government regulations and that airstrips meet CAAB requirements

Candidates will need to demonstrate that they have the following proven skills:

•At least 10 years of experience in management of remote safari camps
•Proven track record in mentoring and development of employees.
•Good knowledge of HR processes including recruitment and disciplinary
•Broad knowledge of concession management, guiding, conservation principles, maintenance, food and beverage, safety and standards.
•A strong understanding of budgeting processes, cost controls, and the ability to analyse profit and loss statements is a critical part of the role, so the person must have a comprehensive background in financial processes.
•Experience in designing and implementing policies
•Knowledge of accounting and reservations systems and prior experience with Panstrat is an advantage
•The General Manager will also be expected to contribute to the company’s Sales and Marketing strategy, and as such a strong sales background is also required.

Required minimum qualifications

•Diploma level or above in Tourism and Hospitality Management
•Finance qualifications
•Guiding qualification
