Professional certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Cisco CCNA, or Microsoft Azure Fundamentals significantly improve your competitiveness in the local job market.
What are the common day-to-day responsibilities of an IT Support & Networking Officer in Botswana?
Daily tasks include troubleshooting hardware and software issues for staff, maintaining LAN/WAN infrastructure, configuring routers and switches, managing user accounts, and ensuring cybersecurity protocols are followed. You will also document incidents, perform system backups, and occasionally train employees on IT policies and new technologies.
How does workplace culture and employer expectations differ for IT roles in Botswana compared to other sectors?
Botswana employers value punctuality, respect for hierarchy, and strong communication skills alongside technical competence. With experience and additional certifications, you can advance to Network Administrator, IT Manager, or Systems Analyst roles within larger organizations like government ministries, banks, or mining companies.
