The Junior accountant is responsible for providing reliable and accurate financial support to the finance department by assisting with day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring timely processing of financial records and contributing to efficient financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurate financial record keeping
- Month end and year end close support
- Compliance and controls
- Support to the finance team
- Record and process daily financial transactions (journals, receipts, payments).
- Reconcile bank statements, supplier accounts, and general ledger accounts.
- Assist with the preparation of financial reports and management accounts.
- Support the preparation of tax returns and VAT submissions.
- Assist auditors with necessary documentation and explanations.
- Maintain accurate and updated financial filing systems.
- Respond to finance-related queries from internal departments.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and accounting standards.
Requirements
- ACCA part qualified / BICA part qualified / CIMA
- 1-2 years work experience
- Experience with accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero) is advantageous.
- A driver’s license will be an added advantage.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables) and general MS Office suit.
- Proficiency in accounting software
- Good time management and ability to organize tasks and meet deadlines
- Effective communication
- Strong team player with ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of integrity and ethical standards.
