Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality teaching and learning in Health Informatics and related disciplines.
- Equip students with knowledge and practical skills in health information systems, healthcare technologies, data analytics, and digital health solutions.
- Teach the integration of health sciences, IT, and data management principles to support evidence-based healthcare delivery.
- Develop students competencies in the management, analysis, security, and quality assurance of health information and healthcare data.
- Provide instruction on the implementation and administration of health information systems used in hospitals, clinics and other healthcare settings.
- Promote understanding of healthcare policies, ethical practices, data governance, and regulatory requirements relating to health information management.
- Foster innovation, critical thinking, ethical leadership, problem-solving, and lifelong learning within the healthcare domain.
- Supervise student projects, research activities, and practical assignments.
- Participate in curriculum development, student assessment, academic advising, and other departmental activities as required.
Requirements
- Honors Degree in Health Informatics, Health Information Management, Information Systems, Computer Science, Health Sciences, or a related field. Master’s degree will be an added advantage.
- All qualifications must be recognized by the Botswana Qualifications Authority (BQA). Applicants with foreign qualifications must provide proof of BQA evaluation.
- A minimum of two (2) years teaching experience at tertiary education level.
- Strong knowledge of health information systems, digital health technologies, and healthcare data management.
- Understanding of healthcare operations, data analytics, information security, and health informatics standards.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
- Ability to integrate theoretical knowledge with practical healthcare applications.
