MAINTENANCE MANAGER

SCOPE AND PURPOSE:
Our Safari Maintenance Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Lodges physical plant and maintenance functions and maintain all facilities in the best possible condition. Is also responsible for the physical integrity of all facilities and participates fully in all safety & security initiatives.

Main duties & responsibilities
• Directly responsible for the management and supervision of the Maintenance team.
• Conduct relevant trainings to maintenance team.
• Schedule and implement a programme for the maintenance of buildings, plant and maintenance equipment, vehicles and boats, all radios and other forms of communication, all new building and improvement projects.
• To plan and implement a preventative maintenance program for the lodge, incorporating heavy machinery, air conditioning, daily routines and specialised equipment.
• To oversee and manage the successful and timely completion of routine maintenance tasks and efficient resolution of maintenance issues.
• Manage and assess the work completed by the maintenance team & external technical contractors to ensure that work provided meets the quality standards required.
• Care and maintenance of solar plant.
• Maintain the Lodge efficiently; which includes:
I..I. All distribution systems for electricity, water, gas etc.
I..2. All air conditioning, heating, ventilation and refrigeration systems
1.1. .Grounds
• Maintain all of the vehicles and other modes of transport (including boats where applicable).
• Ensure that requests by Guests, Management and Employees are actioned timely.
• Conduct a daily briefing with the Maintenance team and allocate/schedule all duties and tasks to be carried out on the day.
• Maintain all radios at the Lodge and in all vehicles.
• Conduct regular inspections of the property with the Chief Engineer and or Lodge Manager or General Manager in order to identify problem areas and plan for their improvement.
• Ensure that all water systems are treated in order to prevent corrosion throughout the system.
• Ensure that all firefighting equipment is in good working order throughout the Lodge.

Requirements
• Minimum of 5 years work experience in a Maintenance Manager position in the luxury hospitality industry.
• Not essential but preferable to have some experience with safaris.
• High level of social and interpersonal skills with a passion for each other, guests, communities, and colleagues alike.
• Ability to lead a team and develop individuals to achieve exemplary performance.
• Strong leadership with demonstrable ability to engage and motivate teams.
• Advocate for the environment with demonstrable track record of compliance and environmental excellence.
• Resilience to incident management scenarios and the ability to make decisions under pressure.
