MARKETING AND BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER – African Union Sports Council

VACANCY 

The African Union Sports Council (AUSC) Region 5 is inviting qualified and dynamic individuals to apply for the position of Marketing and Business Development Manager, a critical role within the Secretariat based in Gaborone, Botswana.
This strategic position plays a pivotal role in developing, implementing, and sustaining effective marketing strategies, partnership development, and resource mobilisation initiatives that align with the Region’s mandate of using sport as a vehicle for development and integration.

Key Responsibilities:

* Develop and implement marketing, branding, and business development strategies.
* Cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships with sponsors, corporates, media houses, and other stakeholders.
* Lead the planning and execution of fundraising campaigns and revenue-generating initiatives.
* Drive visibility and reputation management of AUSC Region 5 activities and events.
* Manage digital platforms, content creation, and public engagement campaigns.
* Monitor market trends and identify business opportunities aligned with the Region’s strategic plan.

Minimum Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field.
A postgraduate qualification in a relevant field will be an added advantage.

Experience and Competencies:

* At least 5 years of progressive experience in marketing, business development, or strategic communications.
* Proven track record of securing partnerships, sponsorships, and managing corporate relationships.
* Strong understanding of branding, media relations, and digital marketing.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
* Ability to work in a multicultural environment and across borders.
* Strong project management skills and attention to detail.
* Knowledge of sport development in Africa will be an added advantage.
