Key Responsibilities
- Assess, diagnose and manage patients and order and interpret appropriate investigations
- Monitor compliance with Botswana healthcare legislation, licensing and accreditation standards
- Investigate clinical incidents, complaints and non-conformances and recommend improvements
- Prescribe and initiate treatment and perform procedures within scope of competence
- Develop, review and maintain clinical policies, procedures, SOPs and compliance registers
- Provide compliance and clinical-governance training and awareness to staff
- Oversee research governance, ethics and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) for any clinical research conducted at the facility
Requirements
- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS/MBChB) or equivalent from a recognised institution
- Current registration with the Botswana Health Professions Council (BHPC) as a medical practitioner, in good standing
- Completed internship and any required community service
- Sound current clinical practice as a medical officer, with broad clinical exposure (including emergency and general medicine)
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in healthcare compliance, clinical governance, or clinical-trials quality / regulatory work
- Knowledge of healthcare regulation and accreditation standards
- A Master’s degree in epidemiology, public health, health-services management, medicine, law or a related field (desirable)
- Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certification (desirable)
