MINE SURVEYOR (1)

JCHX Mining Management Co., Ltd. (JCHX) has been awarded a five-year contract for underground mining services at MMG’s Khoemacau Copper Mine in Botswana. JCHX, a global mining contractor with nearly 30 years of experience, will be responsible for the development and operation of the underground mine. The project is seen as a significant step towards MMG’s goal of increasing copper production at Khoemacau.

JOB SUMMARY

To provide accurate and timely spatial data through surveying services that support safe, efficient, and cost-effective mine development and production activities. This role will ensure the correct execution of mine plans, track excavation progress, maintain control networks, and deliver precise survey information to stakeholders, including mine planning, geology, and geotechnical departments. This role also upholds regulatory compliance and safety standards in all survey operations.

Key Position Responsibilities

• Perform daily underground survey activities in line with mine design and operational schedules.
• Conduct accurate hole scans to support long-hole drilling activities.
• Carry out cavity monitoring surveys (CMS) to capture void data in underground excavations.
• Maintain accurate survey control networks and regularly update mine spatial databases.
• Operate drones for underground surveys, including data capture and processing.
• Perform end of shift profiling and 3D marking to support development drilling and blasting.
• Complete monthly reporting tasks, including pickups, development progress tracking, and overbreak/underbreak reports.
• Provide accurate, timely, and precise spatial data to assist mining, engineering, and technical teams in planning and executing development and production activities effectively.
• Carry out check surveys, re-installation/laser checks, and assist in reconciliation processes.
• Work closely with Technical Services, Operations, and Engineering departments to ensure survey data supports planning, design, and production goals.
• Ensure all survey records are properly documented, stored, and archived in line with site standards and industry best practices, enabling future reference and audit compliance.
• Uphold workplace safety by following JCHX operational procedures and adhering to the code of conduct.
• Incorporate safety checks into survey workflows to identify and mitigate potential hazards.

Qualifications Requirements

• Bachelor of Engineering or BSc. In Geomatics/ geodesy / Surveying Engineering.
• Proficiency in mining software such as Surpac, Deswik, Datamine, Amine, MicroStation and related CAD systems.
• Valid Drone Pilot license (Multi-rotor) will be added advantage.
• Valid Class ‘B’ Driver’s License
