VACANCY CIRCULAR NO: 13 OF 2025

Applicants are invited from suitably qualified Botswana Government employees for the below mentioned post tenable in Ramotswa District Council.

Vacancy: PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTANT

Salary Scale: D2 (P337,008.00 – P371,628.00) per annum

Leave: 30 working days per annum

Qualifications: Degree in Accounting or related field

Experience: A minimum of ten (10) year’s work experience two (2) of which must have served as Principal Accountant II – D3

Requirements: Prospective candidates must have registered with Botswana Institute of Chartered Accountants (BICA) and must have a valid Practicing Certificate.

Benefits:

•Optional medical aid scheme (Government pays 50% and employee pays 50%)

•Contributory Pension Fund: Government pays 15% and employee pays 5%

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To coordinate, manage and monitor utilization of financial resources to ensure prudent financial management.

DUTIES

•Manage and direct the Treasury division to ensure prudent financial management and adherence to statutes.

•Provide professional advice and guidance on financial accounting and budgeting to key stakeholders.

•Provide vigilant supervision to spending departments to promote efficient and economic financial order.

•Develop and supervise implementation of internal controls to ensure sound management of financial resources in accordance with financial regulations and policies.

•Undertake regular review of Council exposure to financial risks and strengthen internal controls.

•Prepare final books of accounts and present them through administrative structures.

•Undertake any other related duties that may be assigned by the supervisor.
