VACANCY: PRINCIPAL EDUCATION OFFICER I – AGRICULTURE (MAJORING IN ANIMAL PRODUCTION – D2 X1, (DEPARTMENT OF CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT & EVALUATION)
Applications are invited from highly motivated, well experienced and self-driven qualified candidates for the position of Principal Education Officer I – Agriculture (Animal Production) tenable in the Ministry of Education and Skills Development (Department of Curriculum Development & Evaluation) – D2 salary scale.
SALARY: D2 (P 305,664 – P 337,068 per annum)
LEAVE: 30 Working Days Per Annum
BENEFITS: i) Optional medical aid scheme with the Botswana Public Officers Medical Aid Scheme (BP0MAS – Government pays 50% and the employee pays 50%)
- ii) Contributory pension scheme (Government contributes 15% and employee contributes 5%).
QUALIFICATION
Applicants must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Education.
A Diploma in Animal Production and a Masters’s Degree in Curriculum and Instructions will be an added advantage.
EXPERIENCE
A minimum often (10) years relevant work experience teaching Agriculture at senior secondary school with extensive knowledge of the process involved, of which (2) years should have been served at D3 salary scale in the Ministry of Education and Skills Development
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE JOB
- To initiate, guide and monitor curriculum planning, design, development, implementation and evaluation at the various levels of Education and Skills Development for Agriculture.
- To ensure that the curriculum is in line with the national curriculum and the Ministry policy.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
- Plan, coordinate and supervise the design, development and evaluation of Agriculture curriculum programmes.
- Manage the subject office on a day to day basis and ensure effective and efficient development of curriculum programmes
- Direct and monitor implementation of curriculum projects and programmes on a day to day basis to ensure effective implementation of government policy.
- Provide professional guidance and leadership for the subject and ensure that officers are kept abreast of developments.
- Facilitate the provision of in-service and/or on job training of Eduation Officer (Curriculum) across area of responsibility.
- Work with Principal Education Officers in other departments in diffusing relevant educational innovations to teachers and other officers
- Involves critical stakeholders in subject related curriculum issues and development processes.
- Liaise with Department of Basic Education to establish implementation strategies for subject area.
- Contribute ideas on matters of curriculum change and development and participate in curriculum integration efforts to avoid duplication of materials and guard against the total exclusion of some crucial areas of learning for the subject.
- Advice the Chief Education Officer on interventions required on the curriculum.
- Assist the Chief Education Officers (Curriculum) in drawing up and managing a comprehensive budget for resources within the subject.
- Assist the Chief Education Officers (Curriculum) in identification of training needs with subject area.
- Undertake any other related duties as may be assigned by Management to meet the exigencies of the service.
