- New property developments: Exercise sound business judgement to identify, investigate and analyse development opportunities, including innovative solutions; prepare property development business cases and funding proposals, including all aspects of feasibility investigations (including acquisitions, construction, consultants & contractors).
- Project management: Oversee implementation of property development projects, including due diligence processes; stakeholder, consultant and contractor negotiation and liaison, risk mitigation; and delivery on time within approved budget.
- Contract management, compliance and risk management: Manage accurate and comprehensive documentation including funder, consultant and contractor agreements; maintain compliance with relevant legislation and contractual obligations.
- Reporting: Prepare timely, accurate & professional (internal and external) reports and acquittals; in collaboration with CEO, liaise with the regularly present to Board and its Property Assets Committee.
- Asset management: Analyse existing property assets and determine redevelopment opportunities; source, implement and monitor asset management plans for all properties.
- Relationship management: Maintain excellent relations with all stakeholders including funders/financiers, contractors and regulators.
- People management: As an organisational leader, contribute to strategy, management, decision making and capacity building, creating a culture of service excellence and long term sustainability.
The successful candidate must:
- Be a registered professional construction project manager and must be a qualified quantity surveyor, up to date with the latest best practise in the field.
- Have at least 10 years’experience in the development of retail, office, industrial and hospitality industries with a proven record in botswana, south africa and namibia having acted as principal agent and project manager on these projects.
- Have a successful track record of driving property development/construction projects from inception to completion.
- Demonstrate the ability to source and initiate projects.
- Have a thorough and extensive knowledge of the property law applicable in the various countries.
- Be able to create and sustain strategic and productive relationships with key stakeholders, including partners and suppliers.
- Enact a high level of accountability for actions and outcomes.
- Demonstrate excellent negotiation, influencing and communications skills, both oral and written.
