The Projects Engineer will be responsible for overseeing all assigned engineering activities within projects, ensuring they are executed and delivered safely, efficiently, and on schedule. Their responsibilities will include reviewing and verifying the technical quality, safety, integrity, and adequacy of all design engineering work within the project. Additionally, they will review and approve design development and process design, define EPCM design deliverables and proposed design changes, and establish the engineering standards for the project in accordance with MMG-Khoemacau standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing various engineering requirements on multiple, complex projects within the capital program, from studies (concept, pre-feasibility and feasibility), implementation up to commissioning.
  • Applying design and engineering expertise to projects that hold strategic significance for MMG-Khoemacau Copper Mining, its’ shareholders and key stakeholders.
  • Establishing all technical requirements in support of the capital project execution for all engineering disciplines.
  • Developing the design and engineering deliverables for the Concept Study, Pre-Feasibility, Feasibility, Implementation and Closeout Report.
  • Implementing engineering standards in accordance with MMG-Khoemacau standards and specifications.
  • Reviewing and approving the design development and process design, defined Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) design deliverables and any proposed design changes.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Conveyor Design Diploma
  • Minimum 15 years design and engineering expertise in studying, designing and delivery of projects within the construction and/or mining industry
  • Proven track record working in both Owners and Engineering Management, in Concept, Pre-feasibility, Feasibility, Execution and Closeout stages of projects
  • Conveyor Design CEMA/ISO 5048
  • API 650 Tank Design
  • Project Schedule Development (P6)
  • Capital Cost Estimating in accordance with AACEI 47r-11
  • Fire Protection System design in accordance with FM Global and SANS Standards.
  • A valid class B driver’s license and good driving record is a must for all positions.
