REGISTERED NURSE – ACCIDENT & EMERGENCY – Sidilega Private Hospital

You must hold a Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution such as UB or BUIST, plus current registration with the Botswana Nursing and Midwifery Council. A post-basic qualification in Emergency Nursing or Critical Care is highly preferred. Valid BLS and ACLS certifications from a recognised provider are typically required.

You will triage patients, stabilise trauma and medical emergencies, administer emergency medications, assist with procedures, and coordinate with doctors and specialists. Documentation using hospital systems and patient education are also core duties. Shift work including nights, weekends and public holidays is standard.

Private hospitals emphasise patient-centred care, punctuality, and maintaining professional boundaries with patients and colleagues. Hierarchical respect for senior medical staff is expected, and teamwork across departments is essential. Continuous professional development is encouraged to retain your practising licence.

With experience, you can advance to Senior Staff Nurse, Unit Manager, or Nursing Supervisor roles. Specialising further in trauma, paediatric emergency, or flight nursing opens additional paths. Some nurses transition into education, quality assurance, or hospital administration with additional qualifications.
