Medlane Day Hospital is seeking to recruit a highly motivated, experienced and patient focused Botswana Registered Theatre Nurse to join our growing multidisciplinary surgical team in Gaborone, Botswana. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of perioperative nursing care across a range of surgical specialties including ophthalmology, general surgery, orthopedics, ENT, and other day surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare operating theatres and equipment before surgical procedures.
- Scrub and circulate during a wide range of surgical procedures.
- Ensure adherence to infection prevention and patient safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate theatre records and instrument counts.
- Assist with stock control, theatre equipment maintenance and quality improvement initiatives.
- Deliver compassionate, safe and evidence based perioperative nursing care.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in General Nursing from a recognized institution.
- Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Botswana.
- Post Basic Qualification in Operating Theatre Nursing.
- Minimum of five years’ experience working in an operating theatre environment.
- Sound knowledge of aseptic technique, infection prevention and control, instrument sterilization and perioperative patient care.
- Competence in both scrub and circulating nurse roles.
- Experience assisting in ophthalmic surgery will be an added advantage.
- Ability to prepare operating theatres, manage surgical instruments and equipment, and maintain accurate theatre documentation.
- Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and professionalism.
- Willingness to participate in an on call roster when required.
