Key Responsibilities

• Structural mapping underground.
• Underground excavation monitoring.
• Conducting regular assurance reviews on mine excavation and ground support execution / performance.
• Reporting on abnormal ground conditions and deviations from design.
• Identifying and making recommendations to the relevant stakeholders with regard to systems, procedures and techniques to reduce or eliminate geotechnical related hazards.
• Leading the development and execution of relevant interventions and solutions for the identified needs.
• Site inspections and monitoring.
• Ground support recommendations.
• Conducting piezometric measurements and groundwater re-charge rates.

Requirements

• National Diploma in Mining/Geology. Strata Control certificate highly recommended. NEC trained as Geological Technician with underground rock mechanics experience.
• 3+ years practicing rock mechanics in underground mines particularly in base metals.
• Copper mining experience is an added advantage.
• Rock Engineering input.
• HSE systems and standards.
• Base metal support systems.
• Structural mapping and extrapolations in underground mines and monitor excavations.
• Able to Work with minimum supervision.
