1. SAFETY, HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENT (SHE) TRAINER
We are looking for suitably qualified, highly motivated, talented, innovative, hands-on, dynamic team players capable of working both collaboratively, as well as independently. Suitable candidates should possess a high level of integrity, show strong commitment, and express the desire to deliver operational excellence through Zero Harm. The positions are based at the Mine Site located between Maun and Sehithwa in Ngamiland. To be successful, you must enjoy getting out on site and have the enthusiasm, and interest to work in a remote location, as well as deliver in a multicultural work environment. 12. SAFETY HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENT (SHE) TRAINER
*BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION:
The SHE Trainer will deliver training and assessment to MMG-Khoemacau and contracting personnel on all SHE areas, the mine operations including construction. The scope of work will include updating existing training material and resources on a regular basis, training session preparation, and the processing of participant outcomes on assessments and training sessions. The SHE Trainer will report to the SHEQ Manager and must develop close liaisons with the SHE personnel and contractors in order to gain appreciation of training needs and progress of site personnel.
*CORE DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE:
• Providing high-quality SHE training that always assists the operation in pursuing growth opportunities whilst observing safe work practices.
• Attaining and maintaining a sound knowledge and familiarity of all aspects related to safety of the MMG-Khoemacau processing and mining operations
• Ensuring that SHE training is of a standard that guarantees that skills and knowledge are effectively passed on to trainees
• Developing and maintaining personal computer skills so that quality training material can be developed and updated.
• Assisting in the development of SHE training courses for site personnel that directly address, in order of priority, the gaps in current and required skills and knowledge of site personnel and contractors that will enable them to safely fulfil their roles
• Be actively involved in the development of SHE training schedules for site personnel
• Conducting the delivery of training sessions, both classroom and hands-on practical training
• Reviewing and if necessary, updating training material and delivery methods on a bi-monthly basis, or more frequently if required.
• Carrying out competency assessments (written and practical) on MMG-Khoemacau employees and local firm contractors.
• Ensuring accurate records of training session attendances are given to the Training Coordinator
• Conducting safety observations and audits on site on a regular basis
• Assisting the site personnel in Job Hazard Analysis improvement on the field when required
• Regularly organising, delivering and keeping records of site Toolbox Talks and other safety initiatives
• Following the principles of accredited training qualifications in the areas of training planning, preparation, delivery, and assessment, follow and record-keeping.
• Observing and adhering to all internal training department procedures and systems that have been put into place
• Ensuring that Training Delivery Plans (Lesson Plans) are available and adhered to
• Ensuring that Training Delivery Plans are well-prepared and punched for all training activities and utilise training time effectively. All lesson material to be prepared in advance and ensuring that training happens on time as planned.
• Ensuring that you follow the direction and instruction of any approved specialist external training provider
• Ensuring that housekeeping, maintenance and security measures for all training equipment and facilities are observed
• Reporting on absenteeism of participants to training to the relevant officials and the Training Coordinator
*MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE:
*Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Translation, Linguistics, Modern Languages, or a related field.
• Botswana candidates must hold a degree/certificate in Chinese language studies or have previous work experience in Chinese enterprises.
*Certifications (Preferred or Advantageous)*
• Registered with a professional body, e.g. PMI, AIQS and ECSA.
• Training or certification in estimating software tools such as CostX, Candy, or SAP.
• SHEC-related awareness training, particularly if working on active mine sites.
*Minimum Experience and Knowledge:
• At least one year of professional translation experience.
• Have experience in translating mining engineering documents, including design and construction documents.
• Candidates with a background in project/engineering management are preferred.
• Botswana candidates should be proficient in Chinese listening, speaking, and reading with strong cross-cultural communication and translation skills between Chinese and English.
• Chinese candidates should be proficient in English listening, speaking, reading and writing with strong cross-cultural communication and translation skills between Chinese and English.
• Chinese candidate should be fluent in English, with a recognized certification such as TEM-8 (Test for English Majors-Band 8), IELTS (8.0 or above), or TOEFL (110 or above).
• Capable of working under high pressure; experienced in translation and familiar with common office software.
• Dedicated, and possess excellent teamwork and communication skills, with quick thinking and logical clarity.
• Willing to undertake Botswana business trips and work abroad on a long-term basis.
• In-depth knowledge of translation and techniques for English Chinese language pairs.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Dedicated, and possess excellent teamwork and communication skills, with quick thinking and logical clarity.
• Willing to undertake Botswana business trips and work abroad on a long-term basis.
*MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE:
*Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree/qualification/degree in Safety, Health and Environment
*Minimum Experience and Knowledge:
• 8 years’ experience as a SHE practitioner in a mining industry, 5 of which should be as a Trainer.
• Strong ability to communicate to various groups of different nationalities
• Self-starting and able to work under minimum supervision
• Ability to work under pressure
• Ability to be fair and objective when delivering training and assessment
• Sound time-management and organisational skills
