Key Responsibilities:
– Conduct thorough assessments of the organization’s safety, health, and environmental risks, and develop strategies to mitigate and control these risks
– Establish, monitor, and continuously improve safety, health, and environmental policies, procedures, and best practices in alignment with relevant regulations and industry standards
– Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs to educate employees on safe work practices, emergency response protocols, and environmental compliance requirements
– Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence and improve overall safety performance
– Collaborate with department heads, managers, and supervisors to integrate safety, health, and environmental considerations into operational processes and decision-making
– Conduct regular audits, inspections, and monitoring activities to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and the organization’s own policies and procedures
– Maintain detailed records of safety, health, and environmental data, including incident reports, hazard assessments, and regulatory compliance documentation
– Analyze data and trends to identify areas for improvement and develop proactive measures to enhance the overall safety, health, and environmental performance
– Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, such as OSHA, EPA, and other relevant authorities, and ensure timely reporting and response to their inquiries
– Coordinate with emergency response teams and local authorities to plan and implement effective emergency preparedness and response strategies
– Promote a strong safety culture by actively engaging with employees, fostering open communication, and encouraging their participation in safety initiatives
– Participate in the procurement and management of safety, health, and environmental-related equipment, supplies, and services
– Stay informed about evolving regulations, industry best practices, and emerging technologies related to safety, health, and environmental management
Required Skills and Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science, or a related field
– 5+ years of experience in a safety, health, and environmental management role, preferably in a similar industry
– Thorough understanding of relevant safety, health, and environmental regulations, such as OSHA, EPA, and other applicable standards
– Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, and implement effective safety and environmental programs
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with employees at all levels, as well as external stakeholders and regulatory agencies
– Proficient in the use of safety management software, data analysis tools, and risk assessment methodologies
– Project management skills to coordinate and implement safety, health, and environmental initiatives across the organization
– Ability to work independently, as well as collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
– Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to influence and drive cultural change towards a safer and more sustainable work environment
– Certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or Certified Environmental Manager (CEM) are preferred
