Job Purpose

​​To prepare technical drawings, diagrams, maps and updates drawings to aid in construction and maintenance in accordance with set specifications, standards and safety procedures to ensure optimal plant availability.

Principal Accountabilities/Responsibilities

Engineering Design & Drawing

Carries out the designs and the drawings of the corporation reticulation system, staff houses, offices and other structural, mechanical and electrical work of the corporation. Performs prescribed facilities management activities by following existing procedures to support others.

Monitors the construction of buildings to ensure conformity to the design plan. Identifies shortcomings in current compliance processes, systems and procedures; develops ad hoc solutions to immediate problems within assigned unit and/or discipline.

Amends and updates drawings and technical specifications and prepares technical drawings in order to incorporate changes in plant and buildings, in accordance with specifications

Reviews schematic database, initiates and follows up on remedial action to ensure drawings are up to date

Manages the maintenance of an up-to-date design database and filing system to ensure information and design availability.

Regularly updates the drawings database and ensures that copies of designs are filled appropriately and are accurately referenced on the database.

Retrieves designs as and when requested.

 

Drawing & Printing Office

 

Operates in accordance with policies and rules, while performing routine safety checks on own equipment and workspace.

Participates in safety inspections and reports on findings to maintain safety of personnel and good housekeeping of the plant.

 

Data Collection & Analysis

Works independently to collate and analyse data using pre-determined tools, methods and formats

Produces accurate reports for others by collecting data from a variety of standard sources and inputting that data into standard formats

Improvement / Innovation

Identifies shortcomings in existing processes, systems and procedures, then uses established change management programs to deliver prescribed outcomes and/or provide support services

 

Project Management

Delivers required outcomes by working within an established project management plan.

 

Safety, Health and Environment

 

Operates in accordance with policies and rules, while performing routine safety checks on own equipment and workspace.

Participates in safety inspections and reports on findings to maintain safety of personnel and good housekeeping of the plant.

 

Client & Customer Management (Internal)

Carries out prescribed internal client management activities and provides support to others by following existing procedures.

Qualifications

​A recognized Diploma in Construction or eq​​uivalent. Certification in Auto CAD

Experience

​At least five (5) years post qualification of which 2 years should have been served as a Draughtsperson.  ​​​
