Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) Manager
Overall job purpose
The role holder will be responsible for the Implementation, monitoring, and auditing of Health, Safety and Environmental systems including the management of construction and fit out projects within the Absa Bank Botswana.
Main Accountabilities
⦁ Monitor the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) standards and management information system (MIS) by obtaining quarterly reports from all Absa workplaces. Assist workplaces to become compliant by sending reminders of information that is still outstanding and escalate non-compliance to Regional Managers.
⦁ Liaise with Business Units by providing expert opinions, advice and recommendations pertaining to the OHS Act and COID (Compensation of Injuries and Diseases on duty).
⦁ Engage with various internal Business Units as CRES, Regional Operations and Learning & Development to ensure participation and elimination of risks e.g., noise levels and 2 Canteens.
⦁ Provide input for training material and present courses if necessary. Provide facilitators with information when facilitators are not able to respond to a learner’s question. Present train the trainer courses and provide recommendations pertaining to revision of training material.
⦁ Conduct site inspections and investigations (e.g., injuries on duty) to identify OHS risk related shortcomings and to ensure procedural compliance by staff and contractors. Submit a report on findings. Attend inspections/inquiries held by the Department of Labour.
Education and experience required
⦁ Degree in the fields of SHE, Construction Management, Structural & Civil Engineering or similar.
⦁ A minimum of 5 to 10 years’ experience in the Management or Coordination of Health and Safety issues in a major institution, preferably in the banking or construction industry.
⦁ Knowledge of legal obligations relating to Health, Safety and Environmental Management
