Solar PV Designer  (Photo Voltaic Solar Designer)

The SOLAR PV Designer takes initial system concept ideas and turns them into fully detailed construction ready designs. Working on residential, commercial, and utility scale solar projects, the SOLAR PV Designer has a steady pipeline of diverse projects to design. Coordinating with AHJs, LPCs, and customers, the Designer balances the necessity of a customer solution with the efficiency of standard practices. This position would require travelling nationwide in Botswana and SADC Countries,

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Lead design for projects in our pipeline – residential, commer­cial, and utility scale Verify initial system layout and gear location specified by sales person. Complete system designs for PV projects including: site plans, mechanical racking and attachment plans, single-line electrical drawings, specification of BOS location and interco­nnect-ion details, and labeling Interface and provide streamlined project information and detailed billof materials and assist in procurement.Understand the optimal design applicat­ions and design limitations of our standard products, and lead the evaluation of alternate products

Qualifications

1. Bachelor degree electrical or electronics or related discipline.
2. Knowledge of photovoltaic systems, Master and additional solar courses will be added advantage.
3. Strong verbal I written communication skills
4. Ability to multi-task and manage numerous projects simultaneously.
5. At least 9-10 years of design experience related to renewable energy.
6. Any additional experience with estimating or designing electrical systems is preferred
7. Competence in AutoCAD is mandatory
8. Competence in PVSystem is preferred
9. Well versed in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

Experience

1. 9-10 years post qualification work experience in solar sector and hands on experience.
2. Knowledge of construction practices
3. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is
4. Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies.
