JOB DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the Project Leader, he/she will oversee all operations of the study, ensuring that all activities conform to the study’s protocol and that ethical standards are consistently achieved with respect to human subjects’ research and good clinical practices. Amongst other responsibilities, he/she will be required to;
-
- Work closely with team members including the Principal and Co- Investigators, Nurse, Research Assistants, and Data Management staff to ensure proper implementation and monitoring of study protocols.
- Ensuring that study accrual targets are achieved, including preparing monthly reports outlining actual accrual versus targets and preparing a monthly report of recruiting strategies.
- Ensuring that lost-to-follow up is minimized, including preparing a monthly report of lost to follow-up and a narrative of actions that will be taken to minimize further losses.
- Overseeing the budget of the study on a monthly basis, authorizing invoices for budgeted materials/equipment and ensuring properly handling and reconciliation of the petty cash fund for the study.
- Preparing and submitting IRB and Ethics Committee reports including Continuing Review Applications.
- Preparing treatment protocols for women and neonates who test positive for chlamydial and/or gonococcal infections, using Botswana national dosing guidelines.
- Participating in hiring of study staff, including conducting employment interviews and making hiring decisions.
- Managing the performance of study staff, including providing daily performance feedback, preparing and administering quarterly and annual performance appraisals.
- Preparing treatment protocols for women and neonates who test positive for chlamydial and/or gonococcal infections, using Botswana national dosing guidelines.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Degree/Diploma in General Nursing
- 2 – 5 years in research
- Ability to provide talks to stakeholders about the study (e.g. Ministry of Health, District Health Management Teams, Health Clinics, Community Advisory Boards)
- Experience with sexually transmitted infection research desirable
