A Civil & Structural Engineering consultancy company based in Gaborone has a vacancy for:
Technician with Diploma in Civil/ Structural Engineering, proficient in AutoCAD and minimum
3years experience

Summary:

The Technician is responsible for providing technical support and maintenance services to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the organization’s equipment, systems, and infrastructure. This role involves troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving a wide range of technical issues, as well as performing preventive maintenance and upgrades to proactively address potential problems.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Support:
– Respond to and resolve user requests and issues related to hardware, software, and network-based systems
– Diagnose and troubleshoot problems, identifying the root cause and implementing appropriate solutions
– Provide technical guidance and training to users to improve their understanding and utilization of technology
– Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of all support activities and resolutions
– Escalate complex or unresolved issues to the appropriate IT specialists or department managers

Maintenance and Repairs:

– Perform routine maintenance and inspections on equipment, systems, and infrastructure to ensure optimal performance
– Coordinate and oversee the repair of malfunctioning or damaged equipment, working with vendors and service providers as needed
– Maintain an inventory of spare parts, tools, and supplies, and ensure the availability of necessary resources
– Contribute to the development and implementation of preventive maintenance schedules and procedures
– Monitor system performance and identify potential issues or areas for improvement

Project Support:

– Assist with the installation, configuration, and testing of new hardware, software, and network components
– Participate in the planning and execution of technology-related projects, providing technical expertise and support as required
– Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful implementation and integration of new systems and technologies

Qualifications:

– Associate’s degree or technical certification in a relevant field (e.g., computer science, information technology, electronics)
– Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a similar technical support or maintenance role
– Proficient in the use of diagnostic tools, troubleshooting techniques, and common IT software and hardware
– Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to analyze and resolve complex issues
– Effective communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users
– Knowledge of relevant industry standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements
– Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, and to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
– Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours, as needed, to support the organization’s operational requirements
