Key Responsibilities

• Providing strategic academic leadership and representing the University nationally, regionally, and internationally.
• Contributing to the development of the institutional strategic plan and ensuring its translation into ambitious, realistic, and measurable goals implemented effectively across all Faculties.
• Leading the continuous enhancement of the academic portfolio by motivating, engaging, and supporting staff at all levels.
• Establishing, maintaining, and strengthening partnerships with local, regional, and international academic institutions, industry partners, and development agencies.
• Championing quality assurance and promoting excellence in delivery, behaviour, and service across all academic programmes and student-focused operations.
• Fostering a collaborative, inclusive, diverse, equitable, and respectful academic and work environment committed to student success.
• Providing executive leadership and oversight for externally funded programmes and strategic projects.
• Promoting a strong research culture aligned with the University’s research policy and long-term developmental priorities.
• Supporting the University structures in the successful implementation of University initiatives.

Requirements

• Hold an earned PhD from a reputable and accredited university.
• Hold the academic rank of at least Associate Professor in a discipline aligned with the University’s programmes.
• Demonstrate experience in technological education, including Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
• Be a recognized scholar with peer-reviewed journal publications, academic books, project grants, and awards.
• Have an excellent understanding of current trends in university education and training in Botswana, the region, and globally.
• Demonstrate the ability to plan, develop, and implement academic programmes and establish strategic institutional linkages.
• Be registered with, and an active member of, relevant professional associations.
• Have proven experience in networking, fundraising, and resource mobilization to support institutional development.
• Possess strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, team-building, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Be a Botswana citizen.
• Be willing to appear in person for an interview if shortlisted.
