BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION:
The Water Fitter will be responsible for carrying out mechanical maintenance and repair activities on mining equipment and infrastructure in accordance with MMG’s global operation standards, OEM requirements, and statutory obligations role will be ensuring equipment availability, reliability and performance to support continuous and safe mining operations.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Your key accountabilities include:
- Performing scheduled and unscheduled mechanical maintenance and repairs on water treatments and sewage plants including boreholes and water distribution systems.
- Installing, aligning, dismantling and moving machinery and heavy mechanical components in compliance with approved maintenance practices
- Inspecting, troubleshooting, and ensuring timely maintenance of pumps, pipelines, tanks, valves, and other water infrastructure
- Ensuring compliance with the Botswana MQWM act in relation to water services operations, maintenance, and supervision.
- Managing contractors and third-party service providers involved in water services.
- Ensuring that critical spares are available at all times.
- Supporting project teams during installation and commissioning of new water infrastructure.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE:
- National Craft Certificate in Maintenance fitting or similar field
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a mining or heavy industrial environment as a qualified Maintenance Fitter
