Responsible for managing and maintaining the inventory of workshop and maintenance-related materials, tools, and equipment within a workshop or industrial environment. They ensure that necessary supplies are available for production and maintenance teams while keeping accurate records of stock levels and usage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inventory Management: Receive, inspect, and record all incoming stock; maintain meticulous bin cards and system records.
  • Workshop Support: Issue parts against approved job cards and ensure no stock leaves the store without authorization.
  • Supplier Coordination: Work with procurement buyer and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of required materials.
  • Proactive Procurement: Monitor stock levels for fast-moving items (filters, brakes, belts) and coordinate with suppliers for quotes and orders.
  • Operational Excellence: Conduct regular stock counts, maintain a clean and organized store environment, and assist with audits.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate documentation of stock levels, purchase orders, and issued items using computerized inventory systems (ERP e.g. SAP)
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure proper storage of hazardous materials and adherence to safety regulations
  • Housekeeping & Organization: Keep the store clean, organized, and compliant with workplace regulations.

Requirements

  • Minimum Qualifications: Certificate in materials management, supply chain, or an equivalent technical/trade qualification.
  • Experience: 3 to 5+ years of experience handling mechanical/automotive spare parts in a workshop, plant, or mining environment is highly preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Good knowledge of automotive/mechanical parts and strong computer literacy.
  • Attributes: High attention to detail, strong communication skills,
  • Valid class B driver license
