SAFETY OFFICER – MOOLMAN MINING BOTSWANA

• Monitor compliance to established Safety, Health and Environmental Management standards, rules and regulations
• Perform daily walk-about inspections to identify and correct unsafe acts and conditions
• Assists with the compilation of monthly accident / incident statistics
• Conducts formal monthly inspection of the operation and compile report and submit to management
• Advise and assist line management in the interpretation of Safety, Health and Environmental Policy, Standards, Procedures, Rules and Regulations.
• Submit daily, weekly or monthly reports to management on the state of Health and
• Safety on site as may be required.

• Present formal Health and Safety Induction to all new employees as and when required.
• Actively promote awareness through the display and distribution of appropriate materials including formal poster campaigns, incident recall systems, newsletters, notices etc.
• Convene regular meetings with elected Health and Safety Representatives to discuss issues relating to their area of responsibility and the effective performance of their duties.
• Assists with incident and accident investigations
• Conduct basic training in the fundamentals of firefighting and other safety related issues as required.

• National Diploma Safety Management Qualification or other relevant tertiary qualification
• SAMTRACK

Experience

• 3 years’ work experience

• Hazard Identification & risk Assessment
• Incident Investigation
• Auditing (SHE, OHSAS 18001/ISO 14001 & ISO 9001
• Computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Coaching and mentoring skills
• Valid driver’s license
• Assertiveness
• Passionate about safety, health and environment
• Attention to detail
