VACANCY TEMPORARY RESEARCH ASSISTANT IN MALARIA PROGRAM

OKAVANGO DHMT INVITES APPLICATIONS FROM QUALIFIED INDIVIDUALS FOR A POST OF TEMPORARY RESEARCH ASSISTANT

Contract Duration: 5 weeks

Experience and skills

• Very strong computer skills, including mapping
• Understanding electronic maps particularly Google Earth and/ open street maps
• Proven ability to perform accurate work in a short time frame and under minimal supervision
• Strong attention to detail when working with spatial information
• Familiarity with handling large datasets, and interest in reviewing maps and aenal photos
• Fluent in English
• Familiarity with any GIS software (Google Earth, ArcMap, ArcGIS or QGIS) would be an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform data entry functions related to the identification of buildings and points of interest (e.g roads) using paper and electronic toots.
• Upload information generated at each location at stipulated time periods under direction of supervisors
• Digitize changes using open street Map tools

Qualifications:

Degrees in Environmental Science, Geography, Demography, Natural Resource Management (e.g. Forestry), Environmental Health or a related field

Salary scale:                       BWP   338.00   per  day   (C3   scale)
